i haven't made any easter decorations for a long time, not since my kids were young.
my egg dying skills are not good and after a few attempts ended up with green eggs instead of the lovely blue i was looking for, reminding me of green eggs and ham! so painting them ended up being easier.
here are a couple of simple ideas using things i already had at home. something kids would enjoy making.
the nest is a small wreath filled with raffia. the sprouted eggs are an idea i saw on tumblr. after i emptied and washed the eggs i filled with cotton wool, wet with water, then sprinkled with broccoli seeds. it took about 3 days for them to sprout, watering every day. the egg cups are cardboard tubes wrapped in hessian/ burlap, ribbon and raffia & i found the seagull feathers near the beach.
wouldn't the kids get a surprise if the easter bunny brought healthy sprout easter eggs instead of chocolate? ;)
enjoy your easter break & the chocolate!

Great Idea. This is such a wonderful alternative to all the rubbish the kiddos get.

ReplyDeleteegg shells. Happy Easter!
They look so cute, love the sprouts idea. My attempt to do some egg decorating resulted in me nearly blowing out my pelvic floor from trying to blow out the yolk.
ReplyDeleteHave a great Easter,

Hi there! I love your ideas - they are so 1) healthy and 2) beachy! Love the broccoli sprout decor! Have to try that! I am on Between Naps on the porch - right after you.
ReplyDeleteI hear you about not having colored eggs in awhile. I did them this year and last year - but for the past couple of years before that I was "out of practice." When kids no longer want to do it with you...or when they "leave the nest" it's hard to get into it. Grandchildren help you back into it - and when my granddaughter was young, we did it all the time.
Now I am just about to be a grandma two more times this year! So - I guess it's back to coloring eggs again!
Cheers & Happy Easter...Linda
Love the egg color. I love robin egg blue.So beautiful. The egg cups are awesome. I saw a video on TV where a reporter asked the moms to make believe they ate all the Halloween candy the next morning. This would be about the same thing..The Easter Bunny is no longer bringing candy! What a hoot! I'm sure the children would react the same as they did with the candy! They all cried out of control! Too funny!
ReplyDeleteI love your blue eggs! I have never dyed eggs before, but I would love to decorate my table with blue eggs - I never thought to just paint them. Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter!
I love the color blue you used for the eggs. I wish you a Happy Easer.
