swell

I love this time of year, when holiday crowds die down. It feels like you almost have the beach to yourself, on a weekday that is.
Added to that it's exciting to see a big swell hitting the coast after what seems a long time without waves, and there's nothing like a fresh blast of southerly air to cool things down after heatwave temps.

Lots of young surfers were out revelling in the waves and making the most of the last few weeks of freedom before school goes back.
The best way out is over the back of the pool, saves a lot of paddling.

the wait between sets

leap of faith

Thinking of the not so fortunate people affected by bushfires in our country and the brave firefighters who are risking their lives to save others.

See  you later!

  2. Seeing these photos, it is easy to forget the bush fires. Hope they are under control soon, but I think it's going to be a long hot summer.
The only benefit I'm getting at the moment is less traffic on the road on the way to work because of school holidays. Would love to see a real beach! x

  3. Hi Cheryl,
Hope you had a lovely summer break. Great photos - love the one of the surfers waiting for the break in the sets. I love the holidays but it is nice when things quieten down a little bit too.

  4. A world away from you...on another coast...where the Beach Boys walked the nose in "Surfin' Safari"...there were absolutely no waves today...flat as a pancake

    Your photos are beautiful.

I don't usually share the blogs I follow with my surfer husband, but he loves looking at your photos with me.

To explain the Beach Boys reference, we live near Rincon.

  11. The water is so beautiful in Australia. Your photos show it off.
Wish I were there. For us it's cold here-near freezing here at
night for a week. It could be worse. Sorry to hear about the
fires in your interior. It must be heartbreaking.
