we don't live in a cottage, we live in an apartment in a busy city. sometimes i dream about having a whitewashed cottage near a secluded beach. i'll call it shell cottage.
after my daughter saw the most recent harry potter movie she told me i had to go and see it just for shell cottage. my kids were at a perfect age when harry potter first came out & like many have grown up devouring the books and loving the movies.
i always admire the amazing set design and will have to get around to checking out shell cottage!
these are some of my shell collections & creations..
"Bill and Fleur's cottage stood alone on a cliff overlooking the sea, it's walls embedded with shells and whitewashed.. Wherever Harry went inside the tiny cottage or it's garden, he could hear the constant ebb and flow of the sea, like the breathing of some great, slumbering creature. He spent much of the next few days making excuses to escape the crowded cottage, craving the cliff-top view of open sky and wide, empty sea, and the feel of cold salty wind on his face"

have you seen shell cottage?
The cottage was so cool and I love the name of it. Your shells are beautiful and I hope that your dreams come true one day.ReplyDelete
Well for a not-so-seaside apartment it all looks really beautiful and coastal! You've done a wonderful job :) xo KReplyDelete
we are close to the sea here.. just dreaming about a cottage close to the sea somewhere a bit more deserted :)ReplyDelete
I have a house that's about 300 miles from the nearest sea (The Gulf of Mexico), but I still dream of decorating my house as if I am by the sea.ReplyDelete
I love the images you've shared, especially the seashell shadow box - so pretty!
Love your shell styling. The box with the frangipani is the sweetest.ReplyDelete
How about that cottage. I'll have to investigate further.
Have a lovely week Cheryl.
Hi cheryl, sorry I havent been around much lately and i missed your gorgeous giveaway... had some yucky dramas... anyway, i also love the idea of a cottage by the sea somewhere. we can but dream!!!ReplyDelete
have a wonderful monday!
I just about sighed with envy by the time I got to the crate with the frangi's...I LoVe your sense of style and would never guess you weren't in a cottage right by the seashore......ReplyDelete
I will still cheerfully visit anytime you like......
Have a great day, Tania Maree xx
Your shell collections/arrangments are just so pretty. The Harry Potter shell cottage is a litte OTT for me I must say but one of the mini projects I often think I really want to do is a little beach cottage. I think I'd like you to 'project manage' the decoration tho rather than the set designer for HP :)ReplyDelete
Such a nice cottage. This all designs are so interesting and beautiful.Fleur cottage stood on the cliff overlooking for the sea.We can decorate our home with this kind of different sea shell.ReplyDelete
so your collections look like ours...we couldn't part with our shells for anything...or our coral collections for that matter...ReplyDelete
love all yours and Ella my eldest, has a little collection box like yours that she's currently gluing shells into...inspiration here as always!
I am a crazy shell collector too. My children know that a stroll along the beach can take a very long time when they are with their mother!... but nothing from a store can compare to the beauty of a single shell!ReplyDelete
Oh no I didnt but I do love the look of the shell cottage. I am afraid I couldn't get into the whole harry potter thing..too busy watching wiggles;)xReplyDelete
Beautiful pictures! I'm in love with the lamp *smile*.ReplyDelete
I love seashells and enjoy decorating with them. In fact I have a Pin board devoted to decorating with seashells. I pinned the pretty white plate with the shells and the glass bowl. Fabulous idea.ReplyDelete
Beautiful photos. Nice blog. You might like this cartoon about "getting organised". http://caroleschatter.blogspot.co.nz/2012/02/cartoon_23.htmlReplyDelete

Love the vignettes ect that you put together! Our bathroom is sea-themed and I wanted it so :)ReplyDelete
I understand your love of sea, despite being myself a city person.
I noticed the decorating in the scenes when they were in that cottage and I loved it. I didn't realize it was made of shells! Too cool! Thank you for linking up to Home Sweet Home!ReplyDelete
