macrame vases

I found another use for the macrame hangers I made a while ago.. or I should say my daughter did. This is what I came home to - a vintage bottle and recycled jar hanging like this with the last of the camelias.

See how to make them here

Have a great week!

vintage coastal flowers

Maybe it's winter.. but I haven't been very motivated to do anything much in this place, let alone anything that's blog-worthy. The ironing is overflowing in the corner, my desk is covered in things, the paperwork is piling up on the dining room table. Sound familiar?

Just when i was wondering what to post about my partner walked in the door with a bucket full of beautiful camelias from a friend's place. Where to put them all? I don't have much in the way of vases, but i do have lots of sea glass colour vintage bottles, recycled jars and some vintage jugs.

The mantel was decluttered and cleared of driftwood boats, shells and beach pebbles to make way for some vintage coastal floristry.

Thinking this look would be just right for an outdoor wedding.. I'm imagining mismatched vintage chairs, long trestle tables with flowers in vintage bottles, lots of recycled jars with tea lights down the centre of the tables and fairy lights strung from tree branches above. Something simple you could do yourself without a lot of fuss or expense.

Have a great week.

it's a cat's life

This was going to be a post just about flowers and Mothers' Day until someone decided they liked that spot on a hessian bag in the last of the afternoon sun.

Can you believe the hydrangeas are still flowering? It's a lovely spring, I mean Autumn we're having.

 HAPPY MOTHERS' DAY!

white lilies

Hi.. how's your weekend going?
A long leisurely one here in Australia.

I'm enjoying having a few kinds of white flowers around the place after my birthday. I don't think there's a white flower i don't like! These gorgeous tiger lilies were a lovely surprise from my son.

I like how they look in an old jug against greeny aqua colours. The anchor cushion is a new purchase from etsy and the navy and white ones have been stored away for a while. Swapping cushions has given the room a new look for little cost.

Can you imagine the beautiful scent of a french vanilla candle combined with the lilies? My own little sanctuary.

What's your favourite flower?

the happy flower

something i love about summer is the variety of frangipanis (plumeria) i see all around sydney. all shades of pink, coral, red, yellow and white.. they have been overdone in the past but i still love them in the garden and bringing some inside in summer.
it seems it was the fashion to plant a frangipani at the front of a house in the early 1900's. many federation homes in our area have them near the entry. the divine scent reminds me of happy times at my grandmother's house when we were kids.
a small branch of frangipanis from our garden has added happiness & life to our living area.

what flowers make you happy?

enjoy your week :)
