simply living

Warmer weather has me thinking about lazy days of summer, relaxing on the coast. Today I'm loving sun bleached pastels, painted and natural baskets, straw hats, lightweight cottons, turkish towels.

Happy Weekend!

surf shack style

A surfboard leaning against a wall definitely gives a home a relaxed, holiday vibe.
A few old surfboards that have been lying around here have been tied to the lattice screen with rope on our back deck. I'm always on the look out for more to add to it.

This summer rental in Montauk New York looks like a fun place to stay. Love the rustic weathered wood exterior.

What a great idea for a kitchen bench!

natural beauty

In the mood for calm colours and textures of nature. Soft greys and neutrals bleached by the sun, weathered and washed by the sand and sea. Driftwood, pebbles, dried leaves, shells - nature's artworks.

Have a relaxing weekend.

inspiring work spaces

Monday.. and it's back to work. It helps to have a beautiful space to work or create in. Here are some inspiring ideas to get you in the mood.

Simple and uncluttered, love the vintage cubby shelves.

Light filled attic with lots of bench space and old storage boxes.

Great idea for list making, doodling or kids art.

In love with this little sewing shed!

Rustic desk with lots of space. Doesn't the black look good against all the white?

Large jars for brushes and string.

Or maybe you'd prefer a mobile work space?

summer house inspiration

Summer's on the way. It's still a bit cool, but at least the days are getting longer and lighter.

These are some favourite images found on pinterest lately that are reminding me of summer. I love all the white with faded aqua blues. Rustic recycled timber and some things weathered and vintage prevent these spaces looking too clinical.

The attic above is so dreamy! Such a gorgeous combination of colours and textures. What would you use this room for if it was yours?

Hope you're having a great week!

seaside style

I think this gorgeous seaside home has been around the internet for a few years now 'cause I've admired this bedroom for a while. This weekend I was happy to come across a bit more of this place on a Danish website. I'm not sure where it, it does look Scandinavian though, don't you think?
It has such a relaxing feeling with the fresh white interior, soft blues, the light charcoal wooden exterior and a few nautical touches. Simple and inspiring.

I want to move in!

Could you see yourself living here?

lighthouse house

Have you seen this lighthouse house? The owners built it as a guesthouse for family and friends on their property in New Zealand, alongside a boatshed with spectacular views overlooking Golden Bay.
I just love it and the cute way it's been simply furnished and decorated.

Inspired by American lighthouses, they worked with an architect to plan their design.

A sunny spot to hang out in a hammock chair. The beautiful rag rugs and patchwork quilts on the beds were made by the owner.

Not sure I could live here permanently with all the stairs.

Would you like to live here?
