dreamy white

Winter or summer I always love white. Living here in a unit / apartment it gives a feeling of space and tranquilty and feels like a sanctuary, miles away from the busy city outside. With some natural driftwood and rattan it prevents it looking too clinical.
I was again imagining my own shop here. A mix of painted vintage furniture, handmade creations, driftwood and jewellery.

Have a relaxing weekend!

white for spring

Things are warming up in this part of the world as we count down the days to spring.

In the mood for lots of white - the colour of new beginnings, just like spring is a time of growth and renewal.

It's funny how a bunch of flowers can motivate a 'bit' of cleaning (not too much) and decorating. Maybe 'cause spring is almost here I'm feeling like freshening up and peeling off the winter layers of dust and clutter.

.. and looking forward to more time at the beach.

Even a rusty old lantern got the white treatment. Another thing I'm glad I painted white. I'll like the look when the rust comes back through the paint too.

Happy change of season!

dreamy whites

It doesn't matter what time of year it is, I always love white. Cool in summer and somehow white feels cosy in winter. Maybe it's because white reminds me of Scandinavian style... just add warm rugs, a sheepskin and candles.

How do you feel about white?

lighthouse location

A dreamy location and house to start the week.. This one's in South Africa. It's available for holiday rental as well as a film and photo location. Simple, minimal and white to match the tranquil surroundings.

I love everything about it, the limewashed floorboards, simple furnishings, mostly bare walls and stripes. Isn't the fireplace beautiful with the pale stonework? I can imagine snuggling up here in front of a fire in winter.

Waking up to a 180 degree ocean view wouldn't be bad either.

So what do you think?
Would you like a holiday here?

white

Always in the mood for decorating with and wearing white, but especially lately. Not sure why, but after reading the psychology behind the colour white it could have something to do with the change of season, wanting to clear the clutter and get organised..

The Colour White Represents:

Innocence and Purity: White is the beginning of everything, before anything is muddied or thinking is 'coloured'.

New beginnings: White represents the clean slate, helping us through times of stress, and allowing us to put the past behind us and preparing us to move on.

Equality and unity: White represents the positive as well as the negative aspects of all colors. It contains an equal balance of all the colors of the spectrum.

Effects of White:

Impartial: White suggests fairness and neutrality because of the balance and equality of all the colors contained within it.

Rescuer: White rescues us from the dark.

Futuristic: Symbolizing a clean slate, we can envisage anything with white.

Efficient: White is clean and clinical, giving an impression of efficiency and organization.

herb garden

This is something I prepared earlier, before Christmas. Winning some cute herb markers made from old spoons as part of a prize in Deanne's giveaway inspired me to buy some more herbs and get planting.
The old door is another great Steve find. I liked the original weathered green colour, but white won out and I like it even better now with all the other white painted furniture on the deck.

I love the look of plants in old boxes & I finally got around to trying some stencilling with the stencils I bought here. I painted an old box found at a garage sale white and decided to use grey paint and one of my lucky numbers.
I'm a bit superstitious about numbers. 26 happens to be the date of my birthday, my daughter's birthday and amazingly the date both of my sets of grandparents were married on the same day at the same time!

I've since planted these plants into larger pots where they are now much bigger & thriving in the heat. You might be interested, the larger herb in the box is stevia, a natural sweetener.
