living in an apartment in a highly populated part of the city has it's challenges. like a lot of other people we enjoy living close to the beach & close to the city. every bit of space counts. small space living encourages us to be creative with what we have.
here are some clever & practical ideas that make the maximum use of space and look good at the same time, with some ideas for my one day beach shack.
simple seating with hidden storage.
love the rustic white timber walls too.
open plan cottage by the sea
large windows let the light in and give the feeling of space in this cute scandinavian retreat.
can you believe this is a converted garage?
see amazing the before and after here
this looks cozy!

DeleteHi Cheryl,
ReplyDeleteEvery single one of these was my favourite image......
Tania xx
glad you liked them Tania x
Deletealmost like having your own adult cubby house!
ReplyDeleteI love all of the images you featured!
ReplyDeleteAlthough I wasn't close to the beach, I lived in a small apartment in Chicago for four years. I loved inner city living, but it meant sacrificing space (there were 3 of us living in 700 sf).
When I retire, I want to live in a small (Katrina cottage) home next to the beach - I'm looking at 500 - 600sf, which is significantly larger than each of the images you have featured, but still small by American standards.
sounds good susan! x
DeleteLove them - especially the last one. I was amazed how well my family managed to live in a small inner-London terrace house. It proves you don't need a lot of space, you just need to use it well.
ReplyDeletei think small space living can bring a family closer ;)
DeleteLovely images, I agree that a beach house doesn't have to be big and grand. Small but perfectly formed is just a lovely and so much more relaxed! xo K
ReplyDeleteyes i'm not into big and grand either kirsty x
DeleteThese small spaces have so much charm and character.
ReplyDeletesmall spaces do have more charm, don't you think? x
DeleteBravo! Piccolo! I love small. The two bedroom beach shack is the perfect size for us, when we arrive, we instantly feel relaxed and cozy. Pop a bottle of vino in the fridge and take a stroll along the beach, come back to a cozy retreat and a cold bottle of wine! I love the image!
ReplyDeleteMe again, I know why I loved the last image......it's not far from my shack! Thought it seemed familiar.
ReplyDeleteyours sounds perfect roberta! x
DeleteThis space look cozy...it's small...but the ocean/beach is BIG!...tons of room there...lol....love the quilts hanging from above...sorry I haven't visited in a while...I've been very busy sewing over at Mel's Designs 'n Harmony...www.cabinfever228.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteI hope I can stop by more often...
living near the beach / ocean makes small places easier to live in, i agree! x
ReplyDeletejust gorgeous cheryl..hope you get to move into your own beach shack sooner than later..
